From Piazza San Giovanni a Volterra we take Via Roma and then Via dei Sarti leaving the town walls behind us at P.ta Fiorentina and then turn right. We skirt the town until we reach the road for Siena (Km 2.1), which we take on the left and then turn right (Km 3.0), in the direction of the Holiday Farm Agriturismo Risalso. After riding up and down for a few kilometres we turn left at the first junction (Km 11.7), and at the asphalted road we turn left (Km 12.9) again. Immediately after this we arrive at a bridge over the river Cecina and turn left towards the Holiday Farm Agriturismo La Carraia (Km 16.8) and continue along the river, on the flat at the beginning and then uphill. When we reach a bend (Km 24.4) we keep to the right. In the next section we see Rocca di Sillano on the left where the descent starts, and once we reach the provincial highway (Km 29.3) we turn right towards San Dalmazio, which we cross. At the next junction we turn left (Km 35.1), towards Montecerboli, where the Valle del Diavolo (Devil’s Valley) appears before us. Along the descent we ignore the junction for Larderello and continue towards Massa Marittima, turning right at the junction for Monteverdi-Sassetta (Km 42.4). The road continues towards Serazzano, and from here towards Canneto, where we end the leg at the junction for Monteverdi Marittimo.
