Leaving San Carlo, heading north, we pass under the cable car used for transporting the material extracted from the Solvay quarry. On the right an earth track descends through the hills, with signs indicating the start of several itineraries. After a short distance we cross an asphalted road before descending again among the vegetation. We pass a bridge skirting a large quarry. After a short distance and at the turn-off we follow the signs, while at the next turn-off we follow in the direction of no. 3. We cross a clearing in the woods, not taking a detour that climbs towards Sassetta, and go upstream. We arrive at the reservoir and continue along the north slope until we arrive at path 00, which takes us towards the centre of the valley. After a hairpin bend we arrive at a crossroads: the path takes us to another path which we take going east, and then we go straight on until we arrive in a clearing at the bottom of Monte Coronato. We cross this and continue as far as the detour that takes us to the panoramic peak of Monte Romitorio. We go back to the wood, quickly pass a clearing and, keeping to the right, we take the path which brings us to a turn-off that leads towards the Valle delle Rozze. We tackle a section over small stones and arrive at an easier road which we take on the left. From here we return to the path we took on our way up, returning to our point of departure.
