From Fetovaia a path through the houses, which in just a few meters, becomes an earth track, continues parallel to the asphalted road for Pomonte. We cross the road and follow the path that skirts the mountain. We come out again on the asphalted road and after 300 meters proceed towards the path near a bend. We descend as far as the beach of Pomonte, follow Via degli Oleandri and climb up again towards the church, after which we continue through the valley, dominated by Mount Capanne. After passing the village we start a slow climb through the crops, then follow the river Barione, which we keep on our right when we come to turn-offs. The vegetation becomes thicker due to the constant presence of water and we walk in the shade before tackling a steep climb that leads to the south slope. We reach the top of the ridge near a “caprile” (a characteristic stone shelter for goats), and our gaze descends to the sea. From the first goat shed we continue as far as the Colle della Grottaccia, an important crossroads. We keep to the right as far as Le Mure, an old Villanovian settlement. We continue to descend towards the Valle di Pomonte passing the ridge to the west. A few meters later we leave the path turning left into the Valle della Sughera where we find numerous prehistoric tombs. From here a steep descent returns us to the centre of Fetovaia.
