Just before the village of Stazzema, coming from Seravezza, on a bend to the left, we find signs for the Forte dei Marmi refuge. We follow them for two kilometres until we arrive at a building where the paths start. From here we climb towards the Forte dei Marmi refuge. Proceeding along a paved lane we arrive at a junction where we take path 5 through a thick wood: we pass a section where we have to use a metal cable and soon after this the impressive shape of Monte Procinto emerges above us. The path travels along the side of the mountain. In this way we reach a fountain not far from the Forte dei Marmi Refuge. From here we return to the fountain and take path 5 b. We leave two stone houses and a little ice-house behind us. We pass a section with the help of metal cables and arrive at the “Casa del Pittore” (the Painter’s House). Soon we reach the other side, with the direct road on the right that leads to the Procinto base. We are going in the opposite direction, following the fence as we descend and leaving it behind us as we continue our descent. When we have passed “Casa Giorgini” we come out onto a good road that we cross, continuing our descent in the shade of the woods (path 6). When we come to a bank, we turn right and then right again at the next turn-off to return to our point of departure.
