The Tuscan Coast. A wonderful sea, mild climate, hundreds of kilometres of sandy beaches in the shade of enormous cool pine forests, alternating with beautiful cliffs.

A paradise, but with an essence that is not easy to understand unless you move away from the blue sea to explore the green and ochre of the hinterland, with its millenary history forged by powerful nature, in search of the hidden villages inhabited by simple, genuine folk. We propose for you a transversal journey, in which we will play hide-and-seek with the sea, approaching it without haste, looking at it in the distance, scratching the surface of it every now and again only to flee inwards and using it as the backcloth for numerous images of which the land, the Tuscan land, is the undisputed protagonist. A slow journey, that offers numerous interpretations for everyone. A journey that will surprise the elderly and fascinate the child. A long itinerary in which every leg is different and that will never bore us.
The history Along our path we will often encounter traces of ancient cultures: at Pontremoli we will observe the mysterious Statue Stele, at Massaciuccoli the opulent Roman Villa of the Venulei, at Volterra the enchanting Evening Shadow, the little Etruscan statue whose extraordinary modern lines will amaze us. The Etruscans will be the great protagonists of the second part of our journey: we will meet them at Baratti and Populonia, very important places, then at Vetulonia and Roselle and they will astonish us during the visit to the “Vie Cave” (paths carved out from the tuff) in the tuff area, an extraordinary end to the itinerary.
Art and culture We will visit the quarries from which Michelangelo extracted the marble which would give him his sculptures, we will walk through the Versilian pine wood that inspired D’Annunzio, or along the cypress avenue of Bolgheri, praised by Carducci. We will walk alongside Lake Massaciuccoli, where Puccini composed his most famous works. In our search for the essence of this land, we will concentrate on the origin of the works, more than on the works themselves. Nature and scenery There are numerous expressions of the force and allure of nature along the route: the peaks of the Apuane mountains that contrast with the abyss of the Antro del Corchia, the sandy dunes of the sand-and-gravel bars, the disturbing breeze of the Valley of the Devil (Valle del Diavolo), the storks of Massa Marittima and the cattle from the Maremma are only some of the images we will take away with us at the end of this journey. As well as the scenery that is the real protagonist: mountains, the sea, and above all hills, as far as the eye can see. Olive groves, vineyards, corn fields, and boundless horizons.
Hospitality In the inland villages, we will often stay in authentic Tuscan homes, where we will always be given a warm, sincere welcome, and in farm houses we will often dine together with our hosts, tasting the farm products. Just as, along our path, sea and land will also meet at the table, giving life to interesting combinations and contrasts.
